We at KB Tambo Tours would like to wish everyone a very happy holiday season ! It has been a great year, and sometimes we can forget just how blessed we are here in terms of our hotel and adventure travels. Our friend Al McDonald from Thrive Adventures sent us this photo of Ollantaytambo, and we were blown away when we saw it. When a friend recently asked where KB Tambo Hotel is located, and we pointed to the center of the photograph, she said “Wow, you are the luckiest guy to live right there”. We realized she was right, we are all lucky in our own ways but clearly Ollantaytambo, Peru is an amazing place to live and run an adventure hotel.

I think back on all the mountain biking, trekking, hiking, and horseback trips and tours that we were fortunate enough to lead in 2012 and I am humbled in gratitude, as well as the always-present respect and admiration of the huge accomplishments of the Incas. As a mountain lover, I can never stop marveling at what the Incas constructed for their society – beautifully engineered cities built in some of the most rugged terrain on Earth, and all of it connected by paved roads going up and over 15,000 foot passes as though it were nothing. Wow, is all I can say.
No where in the world can even come close to competing with the combination of huge epic alpine scenery, literally hundreds of mountain-top Incan archaeological sites, and adventure travel like trekking, hiking, and mountain biking. We think of all the people that we were able to show that to this year, and we are really, really thankful. We can’t wait for 2013, as we have unveiled a couple of new trips: The Epic, which is the best possible way to spend ten days in Peru that we could think of, and also our new Multi Sport trip which features mountain biking from a glacier to the jungle, trekking to a recently discovered Inca site, rafting down to a lively tropical jungle town, and of course a visit to Machu Picchu.
We hope to see you in 2013, now that we know the world didn’t end, can you really think of a good reason to put off the Once-In-A-Lifetime trip to Machu PIcchu, one of the 7 Wonders of the World ? ! !!
