One Day Hikes near Ollantaytambo
If you have only a limited amount of time to spend in the Sacred Valley, or if sleeping outside on the ground just doesn’t suit your fancy, you can still choose from a number of amazing one day hikes near Ollantaytambo. You’ll still be able to visit what we can honestly say our rarely-visited Inca sites such as Naupa Iglesia, Inti Punku, and more while still be back in time for dinner and a good shower and bed in your hotel room.
The Quarries – Known as “Las Canterras” in Spanish, this fascinating site is relatively close to Ollantaytamb and around 2 to 3 hours each way. Here is the quarry where the Incans carved out their massive stones of pure granite, to be then transported across the Urubamba river and up the mountain on the other side to form the Fortress of Ollantaytambo. Inti Punku – On the same mountain side as The Quarries, Inti Punku is an Incan site located at the top of a mountain that overlooks 4 major and strategic valleys as well as the sacred peak behind Macchu Picchu, Mt. Veronica. Click here for more details.
Inca Raccay – It is not logistically or physically easy to visit this beautiful Inca site in just one day but it is possible, click here for more details
